sony bravia dkl32bx420 goes black after one second

television comes on, the sony logo appears for one second, then the screen goes black, however, the sound stays on so apparently the set is still functioning. i removed the back and examined the capacitors and there are none blown. the sony websity recommends to do a factory reset, but i am not able to because i do not have the original remote that came with the set. please, someone help

please follow this guide to perform a factory reset to your Television.

Turn on the TV.
Wait approximately 40 seconds for the TV to completely start up.
On the TV remote control, press and hold the UP ARROW button.
While holding the UP ARROW button, with your other hand reach around the side of the TV and press and release the POWER button on the TV set.( not the power button on the remote) it should be the top button along the side panel.

but i dont have the original remote that came with the television. that seems to be my problem....

You should be able to do these functions with a replacement remote.
