Solved! Sound bar vs large speakers

I have an older JVC receiver with two large speakers. Can I hook up the receiver to a Sony sound bar to get rid of the large speakers?

Sound bars are typically self powered. There's no need for the receiver. You can use it to manage connections I suppose if it has a record out connector and the Sony has the correct input. If you have other audio equipment. If it's all video equipment. Most any semi modern TV will pipe through the audio.

For TV is fine, for music u are going to lose that separation.
