Sound comes through both my speakers and my headset and i want it in just my headset

I am trying to get sound to play in only my headset, but it plays through both the speakers and the headset. When I go to the sound on my control panel, only my speakers show up in the selection and i dont know what to do to fix this.

First make sure the headset is plugged in. Then when you go into "Control Panel", then "Sound" and click on the "Playback" tab, right click on the headset. Then choose to set it as the default item.

Now unplug them and the speakers should become the default sound.

Hmm that is rather odd. Making the headphones the default when plugged in should make any other option stop playing sound.
