Soundbar volume connection

I have direct tv and connected a Samsung soundbar using the ditigal opital cable but cannot control the volume with the direct tv remote

DirectTV remote is "universal", and it controls TV volume. Check DirectTV manual how to "learn" the soundbar' remote.
