Question Spark/fried display connection on laptop

Hi all,

I have a lenovo L340-15IRH Gaming Laptop (ideapad) - Type 81LK I went to disconnect the LCD display cable and heard a faint spark and saw a small flash I thought somewhere around the connection site. The lcd works, but the backlit part isn't, I'm able to connect to a monitor and it works just fine. I can't see any black marks on the board on either side, I know some things about general electrical equipment and wiring, but this is over my head. I'll upload some pics front and back of the board, as I took out the entire board from my laptop. I also have a multimeter if anyone has any suggestions on what to check. These boards are like $700 from the manufacture, but the whole laptop is is like $650 from Amazon. I'd like to try to repair it before anything.

Sounds like a static discharge from your body. You should not be messing around inside your laptop with taking ESD precautions. Read up about ESD damage on the internet. You likely fried some components. Could be on the motherboard or on the display board. No easy fix if that's what happened.

I know about ESD and the precautions you should take, but this wasn’t that. I connected it to an external monitor and everything works perfectly fine. The only thing I touched was the insulation on the cable, not the pins, the battery was still plugged in so it was probably from that. I still can’t figure out if it’s a diode or fuse of some sorts however, and where it could’ve failed is my issue.
