Speaker icon

I no longer hear a beep when sliding the speaker icon on my systems tray up and down and the only option for sound I now have on the default beep for sounds is silence, none or the sound of a snapshot, but no beep as before. Why has this happened?

All that is is sound scheme in system sounds
you can choose windows default or none
i prefer none personally

Yes.....I know this, but just am so very curious as to know the reason for the availability of a beep now gone of which there was one just a few days ago.
