I'm using some cheap speakers by my computer and they make this high pitched static-y sound. The sound goes lower when I turn down volume knob on speakers. The sound is unnoticable when there are other sound (gaming, watching videos) but it gets annoying when not doing anything. Any ideas?

Solution
Sometimes the connector on your computer also can support that noise.
Try unplugging the cable and turn the volume up. If the sound persists, then it's your cheap Speakers.
If not try it with another device. If it doesn't give that noise it might be your computer's connector. Also you can check your earth wire to the computer, sometimes even that affects the sound performance.
