Not particularly surprised here. Big retailers are easy media targets when something goes wrong. Hardly anyone pays attention, or even knows, if a mom 'n' pop in town gets hacked or a gas station had skimmers on every pump. Meanwhile its gotten easier and easier for criminals to launch attacks all across the web. But because so many people immediately jump to technology elitist talking points about how it's the victim's fault, they didn't have enough security, etc, and many others up in arms as soon as any mention of attempting to put up roadblocks for fear of losing the internet. Until everyone gets together, sits down, and talks about real solutions instead of retreating to ideological corners, this is doomed to be like the gun issue, taxes, and many other problems that just gets brought up and argued over without anyone taking any real action.
