I wonder how they will compete with Amazon, Google and Apple. But if their pricing is right then they’ll have a share of the US market.

I have been using Spotify for years. Imagine a music player with millions and millions tracks with the usual tools to search, Make play lists (share them with friends if you like) etc and its easy to purchase tracks if you wish (most are delivered in 320kbps mp3). The streamed sound quality is good - Even the "basic" use 160kbps ogg and the "premium" high-bit rate use 320kbps ogg. Its usually fast but like most cloud based services your in the hands of the interned "mood" and thats one of the instances where the offline mode comes into play!

Just be warned, they gimped the shit out of the free version recently. Now if you're not paying you get ads, can only listen to 10 hours a month and each track 5 times, ever.

Which is a shame considering the free version used to be pretty awesome, you just had to deal with the adverts and poorer sound quality.

if they are a publicly traded company, isn't it illegal to disclose this information? people would buy all the stocks now, and sell once it goes up from this announcement...
