Stalled update load.

Hello, I acquired a Dell lap top from a friend and after using it for about 4 hours, was shutting down for the night. I got a message the computer was updating and not to shut down. Funny enough it said 182 updates and it got as far as 146 in roughly nine hours and now, although it is still trying to update and no error messages, it seems stalled there. Any input would be great.

What's the OS? version number? Did you or your friend recently reinstall the OS? Has it been offline for a long time?

Will wait as long as it still seems to be running and no error message. Just didn't know if that amount of updates should be red flag ,but if not if anyone had any idea of a time line to wait. It has been running on 146 for at least 4 hours now.

Windows 7 and it was an old work laptop so my friend probably cleaned it out fot any potentially confidential material and may have even reinstalled the OS.

One particular Win7 update can take up to 12 HOURS for the Winupdate service to download and install. This is MicroGit trying to wean people off of Win7, because it never used to take that long.

It has been talking that long since the Win10 borg attempts started.
