START UP problem

I have a Compaq Presario 2700 that I bought a new power supply for, It worked, The power came back on and the computer started but then cut off again, A message said "We apologize ", I tried to get into safe mode but now I can't even get there, The led's light up for a second or two, Then the computer cuts off again?, Can someone tell me what to do?...

do you see any bios info or the screen appears to be blank? if you see text you will probably have a corrupted windows setup.
try "chkdsk /p /r" by booting windows cd then repair from command line.

If its only running for seconds.... you DID check the NEW charger with a VOLTMETER ?
