subwoofer pre out

On the av receiver, there is only one sub pre out, on the speaker setup, change from small to large. Can that sub preout connect to an external amp to run the front speaker, is that possible or it just fixed for sub only

You should be able to do that....the only issue you may come across is if your AV receiver has a low pass filter on the subwoofer output. If this is the case and you hook it up to a regular speaker , you won't get the high frequencies. Try it. You won't hurt anything.

Actually, i try that before, no high frequency produce, low frequency yes, at that time, i havent change the speaker setup to Large and subwoofer to NO.
Anyway, i just try no to waste my external amp carver TFM 25 as i have a pair of tower speaker and i dont need a subwoofer which may out of my budget.

Is your external amp one channel or two channel? I'm thinking you can find an unfiltered signal to send to it from somewhere. What model AV receiver?

Pioneer vsx 531 and my amp is 2 channel

Being that your Pioneer doesn't have any stereo line level outputs that I can see....you would use something like this.

the input to this would come from you speaker outputs on your Pioneer.

You DON'T need to unhook speakers from the Pioneer if you have them already hooked up. This can be ADDED in parallel with the speakers.
