I have a 2 year old insignia tv that I only use to watch sports off my hp laptop with, connecting with hdmi. Hdmi is normally always connected to both, even when they're not being used. Suddenly it's not working. I tried both hdmi ports on the tv and still get 'no signal' on the tv screen. I tried connecting the laptop to my vizio smart tv with the same hdmi cord, and it worked.

Didn't think to try the Amazon fire stick I have til you suggested it. Worked with both hdmi ports. Then I tried the laptop to the TV again with the hdmi cord and, no signal. I tried resetting the tv and nothing. Forgot to add that to my original post.

When your laptop is connected, does it detect an attached display?

Is either end of the HDMI cable loose when plugged in?
Cable is fine. Went into display (with laptop connected to the tv which was on), and clicked on duplicate these displays, then, show only 2. Saw the screen on the tv. Yay! Went to put sports on the laptop, but all I saw on the tv was the systems>display screen. Took it off, show only 2, went down to multiple displays and clicked detect other display. Went to put sports back on and saw everything I was doing on the tv screen. Whew!

Why I had to do this for 1 tv and not the other, I don't get. 🤔 Very odd.

Thanks for the help!
