Long story sort, I need a laptop my second year university, I have been looking for an 13" ultrabook to run basic IDEs, Unity, VirtualBox etc. but decided 13" is too small so going for a 15" instead.

1. What is your budget?
600£-1000£

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
15" (13" is too small for programming I think)

3. What screen resolution do you want?
FHD (1920x1080)

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Ultra portable (I have a 1500£ desktop)

5. How much battery life do you need?

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
No Gaming

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Programming/Typing, using IDEs (ie Netbeans), Unity (3D), VirtualBox etc

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
256GB SSD (won;t consider HDD)

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
3-4 years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
No optical Drive

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
No Apple (although I have fallen for their marketing black magic), really keen on Dell.

13. What country do you live in?
UK

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
I was considering the Dell XPS 13" but that would be too small I think, so went after the Dell XPS 15" but that's not out yet in the UK (the new model) and is too expensive.

Looking for Dell XPS 15" cheaper alternative!

Any suggestions welcome, thanks for reading.

I just checked them out, they seem prety average laptops, lack SSD/8GB ram and most lack the FHD as well.

Thanks for your suggestion thought!
