Hello, I have a PC I'm using as a DAC and I'm having a problem finding published output voltage from the rear audio jacks. I have it connected to an external amp and after a couple of months one of the channels died on the amp. The manufacturer has mentioned a lot of PC's will supply too much voltage for their inputs. The motherboard is an Asus z97 hero using the supreme FX 2014 audio.

Yes your amplifier input requirements are usually a low impedance 1 volt standard, whereas the mobo is capable of putting out a significantly larger signal. The reflected impedance may have damaged the mobo output amplifier module. Have you checked it is not simply the cable between them ... or the channel on the actual amplifier is damaged?

When running into another amplifier you must attenuate the input from the source (mobo) significantly, in order to get a distortion fee signal to the amplifier to boost.

Mobo is fine. Its a channel on the amp that failed.

Yeah well disconnect it and check if it has fuses on the pwr supply for the amp ... you might get lucky.

I use my fone and PC connected through a mixing desk and it is hard to match the input to a large PA.

The video does not help. They talk about the headphone amp that is only used with the front panel audio out. The headphone amp is not used for the rear audio out. I need the output voltage (Vrms) from the rear audio out jack.
