I will describe the situation to the best of my ability as I am not well-versed in this (which is why I am coming to you guys). I recently purchased a Vizio M50-C1 4K SMART TV and a Samsung HT-J4500 home theatre system.

My setup is as follows:
HDMI ARC on TV--> receiver (allows me to utilize the home theatre system for consoles, SMART apps such as Hulu/Netflix, etc)
HDMI cable to TV (used as a computer monitor), optical cable from computer-->receiver

The issue is that I am unable to switch between HDMI ARC and optical. If I want to watch something on my computer, I have to unplug the HDMI cable to the receiver to do so (leaving only the optical plugged in) so that audio will come out from the HT speakers. Is there a way around this? Do I need to buy something to make this work? Is it even possible to switch between the two without unplugging anything?

I'm very lost as you can tell so assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
If you set the audio from the PC to go over the HDMI connection you should get sound for anything playing on the TV into the HTS via HDMI ARC. You could use the optical audio out of the TV to do this instead and turn off the ARC.
The function button on the top right of the remote should change the input to the HTS.
