Solved! Switching between laptops

I have a KVM & can switch between laptops using one monitor but I am still having to physically unplug & plug in the docking station from one laptop to the other. How can I simply press the button on the KVM & have full use of keyboard & mouse without swapping the docking station over?

As I thought. The mouse and keyboard need to be plugged into the switch. You will then either need two docks or plug directly into one of the PCs while the dock is used for the other.

Most KVM switches switch all three devices (that's what the "K" "V" "M" are). You either need another dock or plug directly into the second laptop without a dock. Maybe I don't understand what you are trying to do????

Another thought--have you considered remoting into the second laptop so everything is done from the first laptop?

That was what I was expecting but mouse & keyboard are plugged into a docking station which is plugged into the work laptop secured with a VPN. I have work & personal laptops joined to monitor by KVM switch all working well & a separate mouse & keyboard so I'm not hunched over laptop keyboard, & struggling with keyboard mouses. I want to be able to switch btw them without swapping dock station over.
