Well of coure its gonna be messy. There's plenty of ignorant, and stupid people out there. There's also plenty of people who just like to have something to whine about, and this gives them that. Then in a couple months you won't hear about it again lol.

Why not just keep the analog broadcasting for a little bit more with just the information and help number to call for?

Don't see why it would be messy, if you have cable it will work, if you use antennae that is the old bunny ears type u will lose signal. It's not hard don't see why so many have problems figuring this out.

I get asked so many times about this, some just get understand the TV commercials that say if you have cable you are fine.

This is proof of the public ignorance.

Cable is cable is cable. The DTV switch is about over the air broadcasts. You will need a digital tuner to receive free VHF/UHF TV airwave signals, but you will continue to use your old antennae. YOU WILL NOT BE GETTING CABLE AS PART OF THIS SWITCH. THE CABLE AND SATELLITE COMPANIES ARE NOT INVOLVED IN PROVIDING THIS SERVICE.

The difference is instead of an analog signal tuner, you will need a digital tuner that uses precise frequencies and signal patterns to tune in to stations with a smaller frequency range. This allows for clearer, interference-free signal and HD capability.

sorry, wrong quote.
As long as the cable companies supply their customers with digital boxes at no charge all should be fine. Messy but fine.

The DTV switch does NOT effect current cable/satellite customers. It effects ONLY free public airwave broadcasting, and those that rely on it.
