As always, I don't recommend upgrading a laptop cpu, especially in an older one. If you look at the sticky thread at the top of the forum here, you'll see what is involved in taking apart a laptop. Plus, different chips have different power requirements, depending on what you go with. Your best bet is to save your money and buy a new laptop.
