Hello,

I have a TCL 65S405 and suddenly the screen stopped coming up...just black. So, I did some research and found that this is a pretty common issue with TCL televisions. I guess that's why they're so cheap. ;)

Here's what I've done so far:
  1. Replaced all boards (Main Motherboard, T-CON and Power/AV).
  2. Replaced all LCD Strips (pain in the ass!)
After doing each of those steps...the TV reacted exactly the same as before. It would power on, screen would flicker at full backlight and then go very very dark. It's on...but pretty much indistiguishable.

So...what do I try next? My thought is the following:

  1. Replace cabling...
  2. There is a set of boards connected to the LCD panel that are hardwired into the panel outside of connections to the T-CON. Unfortunately, I don't think I can replace these and fear that one of these boards went bad.
Let me know if anyone has any ideas....

If its a panel issue, then there is a real possibility that it is drawing too much current causing the feedback circuit to shutdown the TV. No matter how many new boards you replace, the result will be the same. You are better off getting a new replacement TV.
