TCL (smart) + Sony (reciever) + Samsung (jpop)

TCL is playing through reciever
(via:HDMI) and I'm wanting to play music from my smartphone that has no service. Is this doable?

If your only interest is playing music no reason to involve the TV.
Connect the headphone output of the phone directly to a line level input on the receiver.
Or connect a bluetooth receiver to a line level input on the receiver and pair your phone to it.
