each time I put in a cd and push play i get an E-1 error

have you taken it apart to clean the lens with a microfiber cloth?

if you did..
maybe you can adjust the tray by forcing the assembly to skip a few teeth.

if that doesnt work..
time for some new parts or a new cd changer.
