Apple is faulty in the fact that they accepted a driving license as an identification card.
Let's remember: a driving license is not an identification card, and so, has no legal value to stand as such!!!
That written, the young tries to get the Big deal! He won't get it. He'll get at most USD 1000 for the hours during which he could not work, multiplied at most by 2 for moral damage.

A license is actually valid ID in the US at least. This was not even a license that was lost but a permit which is temporary used for driving. Depending on what it is used for, some places may or may not accept that as ID.
