The first GBC game I ever saw - what was this game?

Wow, it seems like yesterday, but I'm guessing it was around 1999 or
so. I was in Toys R Us and they had a game boy color on display. I
remember the game was an RPG where you walked around and there were a
lot of green trees, etc. and houses you could go into. I always assumed
it was like Zelda or something. I remember thinking, wow this is really
nice, a huge step up from the game boy.

But the other day I played a game called ROBOPON, and this really looks
a lot like the game I remember seeing.

What was the game that was most likely on display? Is it likely that it
was Robopon? Or do these games all look the same and it was most likely
Zelda or something. Please advise.

Might help if you can remember something more like was it side view or
overhead view, etc. Also was the battle in the same screen or in a
new screen (front, overhead, etc?)

I don't think it's Robopon as I have not seen that in display. One
possibility is Zelda DX as it was the B&W version reissued with color
support. It had lots of green trees and you could enter some houses.
And Zelda DX came out at the end of '98 so it's close to your memory.
There's also Zelda Oracle (2 different types) but that was 2001.

Yeah, it sounds like Zelda: Link's Awakening DX to me also.
