Thinkpad t420 vs w510 for basic linux use

I am looking to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 1420 to something that packs a bit more of a punch. I would install linux on this laptop (most likely arch linux).

I want to be able to compile java as well as android java code fairly quickly, watch HD youtube videos, run civ 5 at medium settings, and do basic web development.

I have a budget of around $300 and was hoping to pick up a used thinkpad. My question is would a used t420 or w510 suit my needs better.

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to buying computers. Where would be the best place to find cheap, refurbished thinkpads?
