Seems like it could work in Urban situations but they need to up the speed a bit. It would also only work if the city put in dedicated roads for these types of vehicles (which would have to be standardized). Kind of like a personal L Rail or Bus (no weirdos bugging you)

If anyone missed, "The small compact is designed mainly for urban use..."

So you won't (and shouldn't) see these on the city or even highway. It's not safe, it's too slow (obviously) and it only seats 2 (can't seat a full family of 4).

If the price is under $10k, I think it's fair. I still wouldn't get one though.

[citation][nom]dreamphantom_1977[/nom]The only places I can think of that have a 25mph speed limit is in school zones. Most speed limits are 35-55. Kind of impractical except for the rich people who drive golf cards around there neighborhoods, and golf carts are probably much more energy efficient. Cool concept, great machine, fun toy, but wrong speed means probably a no go.Could you imagine that thing getting t-boned blowing a red light? Even if you were hit by an ev1 you'd probably be killed.[/citation]

I would love to see what would happen to one that was hit by a heavy sedan like Chrysler 300 Or a Dodge Charger. Wonder if the sedan would even notice?

You can get an Aveo for under 10K. It doesnt look any better, but at least it has more room and it can seat more than one fat person.

[citation][nom]TommySch[/nom]Especially Americans!citation]

Why pick on America? They rank as the 9th fattest nation in the world. New Zealand, the UAE, UK, Mexio, over 40+ countries that have 60% or more of their population classified as obese(a BMI of 30 or more). The US was in 74%. Why single out the US when there are 4 countries that are in the 90%+ range.

Just admit you dont know why you hate the US, but it seems to be the popular opinion so you are going to jump on the bandwagon.

Except for the fact the U.S has like 100x their population and is 50x larger as a whole. Gee if 3 out of 4 people in your house is fat, then 75% of your house is fat! Doesnt really mean much considering the small sample. But if 75% of your entire city is fat, counting millions of people, then you have a real problem.

That doesn't really change anything. Of course we have more fat people, because we have more people total.

It's just hip to pick on America.

You have more fat people because everywhere supersizes food rations, the USA is a wealthy country, people have a better standard of living and more disposable income, for many that induces greed, it is not just America, lots of western countries are following the same path, people are becoming lazy and greedy, hence overweight

And its not "hip" its just pointing out facts

Have you ever hit a squirrel or a rabbit? ...you notice. A really large vehicle probably wouldn't notice though, and a pedestrian bumping into you could cause serious damage if you were driving this.

where are you gonna drive it? The sidewalk? The first time you hit a speedwalking mom with her triple decker baby carriage she uses as a people-parting battery ram will get you 10 to life and a good tongue lashing... So, how about the 6 lane Pacific Coast Highway? Any number of Silverado/F150/Ram etc. will turn this into a nicely packed and crumpled ball of aluminum foil. These designs aren't going to work until they design a city around it.

Love to see GM try to explain to the courts when ever this thing (relying on GPS) makes a wrong turn such as onto railroad tracks with an oncoming train or into a river or better yet, drops passengers off at the wrong address and refuses to accept that the address is wrong.

Or even better yet, How would these things stand up to snow storms here in the Northern half of the United States?

Oh Wait? Didn't Dallas Texas get something like 9 inches of snow from one storm this winter? These things would be next to Useless!

And in the South East they would substitute as Emergency Life Pods what with all the floods and all. :D

[citation][nom]velocityg4[/nom]If it can drive itself. Would that mean I can get drunk while it drives me between bars?[/citation]"You don't need my keys, bro, my DD is my car."
[citation][nom]knowom[/nom]Good luck in the snow with one of those.[/citation]Optional tank-like treads for the winter season, ala Terminator designs. Throw in a 20mm cannon and a couple of rocket pods and I'm there. Just uh... don't connect it to Skynet/USR, or let their onboard AI link with other units (like the Geth).

Sweet. Because riding a segway wasn't douchey enough. I wonder if the auto-navigator can help GM find its missing brain? Joking aside it actually does have a cool futuristic look to it... I can't begin to imagine how they're gonna pull off auto-drive. Um, does it wait in line and take the DMV test also... ?
