Like a freaking idiot in other words. Nah it's a good idea and all, but I'm only really into FPS / racing games and kinect doesn't interest me at all. I think that driving games using kinect looks retarded.

Normally I try to find something negative about a new technology just for the sole purpose of bashing it...

But that is actually really really cool. If it works well it'll beat the pants off the Wii and the PS3 Move.

Although, like the other comments, the games that can be used on the Kinect don't intrest me, so I'll just stick to my PC with its mouse and keyboard.

I really agree with Ragnar, here. The whole arm-waving thing to scroll and click and stuff is REALLY COOL! It's like minority report!! We have the technology, there are so many other plausible implementations for this, commercial and industry.

I actually enjoyed it, this is NOT targeted at gamers like us (fps, kb+mouse etc..), and instead targeting younger age groups, or for the more advanced features like gestures (navigating the xbox interface) are really for everyone.

I did find the "Xbox.. rewind" a bit stupid though.. it should detect him looking at the sensor then say rewind.. imo

It will come for windows as soon as it matures. No doubt about it. There is allready plans laid out for when the time is ready. But the xbox gives a controlled environment without a lot of variables that comes with the pc. This makes it cheaper to develop and focus on the gaming experience. That be said. What I've seen of it, its still very rough. A generation or two away from the experience the commercials tout. But just making it possible as rough as it is. Thats a pretty awesome feat.

This is still the 1st gen, so it will probably be more refined with the next iteration... but it is a pretty cool concept.

I already have a wii so I can have game nights with the non-hardcore friends so I wont be getting this, but if I was deciding wii or kinect now, I definitely would pick xbox + kinect over wii.

Wouldn't a remote be faster and easier to use for Media playback than all the hand gestures?

I want real-world examples, not paid actors with scripted actions and "simulated screen images". Those people were being very careful in their movements when browsing menus and whatnot, I wonder what the learning curve is.

So, how long after Kinect has general availability will it be before we hear our first 'foot in the TV' news story?

OK only thing cool about any of it would be surfing the web or of that nature with your hands.

OTHER than that it looks like a cheep gimick with no controllers...

OOO I cant wait to see all the injury to self and property!!! Common youtube!

So much effort, I just want to sit down and enjoy myself and have control at the periphery, not the centre of the game design. I feel for the developers who have to make games for this, because it's going to be much harder, and the games aren't going to be any good. If any Kinect-based games get high critical scores, I will eat my words and a bag of hot chillies. It's not going to happen.

Hopefully some smart person out there will write some Win7 drivers for it. I can see a lot of potential for this device in the indie game development scene. If I could get some half-way decent motion capture animation out of it, I would see it being well worth the money.
