I am only going to d/l movies until I have paid off my HD-DVD player. What a sucker I was. BR players are pretty affordable now, if only the RedBox (or similar low cost rental service) would carry them. Oh, and without an egregious extra fee (I am looking at you, Netflix).

I have seen most of these at the theater, I am lucky that there is a place near me (well 15 minute drive @ 45Mph) that has these movies for about 4$ and they even have the 3D movies. Sherlock Holmes was pretty good, Avatar I watched 2 times so it must be ok. Daybreakers was an excellent vampire movie. I always hated when some one would tell me "Hey lets watch this movie I downloaded its still at the theater" The quality 99% of the time is better then some ones vacation video but still not great. I hear the Daybreakers release is an actual DVD rip though.

[citation][nom]michaelahess[/nom] Obviously torrents aren't hurting their pocket books as much as they say, course when you make more than you deserve (or can spend), having a bit more is mandatory right?[/citation]

Well for movies like Avatar, I agree, the torrents probably dont hurt. It is an awesome movie but a big part of that is the visuals and 3D which you would miss out on with a crappy torrent movie. Other movies though, I think it can hurt alot. Alot of kids these days go over someones house and watch the latest Torrent movie instead of going to the theaters. This is usually the biggest audience for many movies and that is why torrents can and do hurt the industry.

I think that is another reason why movies are pushing for 3D because it would help reduce pirating and possibly increase movie theater attendance.

-1...thank you

ps...I downloaded the screener of Dances with Wolves...I mean Ferngully...um...Avatar when it first came out, it's a fun little movie but not worth the hassle or the money of a theater.

[citation][nom]knightmike[/nom]Stop pirating the movies. Rent them for a dollar from redbox. There is no good excuse to steal a movie. Stop rationalizing. Feel free to vote this down because I am not entitled to my opinion and you can sleep at night knowing you're a thief.[/citation]

I'd much rather pay $1 while I'm at the store than wait a full day for my crappy internet connection to download it. And DVD's are better than DVD rips. Plus I don't have to worry about the man fining me for 10g's.

And for those who do not have such services available? Where tariffs, duty and taxes triple the cost of hard copy DVDs? Most of the planet falls into this category. You can call them thieves, but they're just doing what human nature tells them. They won't spend half a month's wages on two DVDs no matter how much you tell them they're being naughty.

I agree with knightmike that pirating movies is a waste of time. Rentals are cheap, and they are better quality unless you go for the 4GB-8GB rips. Don't get me wrong: I am not taking any kind of moral or legal stance here. I just think downloading movies is not worth the effort. Of course, I rarely watch a movie more than once, so the archival aspect of downloading means little to me.

"As TorrentFreak states, the top ten torrent list is for informational and educational purposes only."

??? educational purposes, they're doing it for advertisement effect. Come download these great movies! Basically the same thing Tom's is doing by continuing to publish these articles. I think Toms should just skip the middle man and start linking to the torrents.

Yea, go ahead and pirate everything and you won't have a pot to piss in. If these companies aren't making money selling their material, they won't be making ANYTHING anytime soon. The whole reason you have these "bassassery" movies is because they have the MONEY to make them. Pirate away you ignorant fools.
