Looking for both a definition of what possibly can cause this problem to erupt after the connection was working. Secondly, how can it be fixed in plain english language rather than some techie using buzz words that us old folks can't decipher.

Need more details also, how does it not allow the connection exactly, what is the message you get on the tablet if you try to connect? Did you check with the cable company to check what settings they used?
