Hola. I'm pleased to announce the launch of a nifty bit of freeware
called TiVo Anywhere that lets folks do three never-before-possible
things (queue circus music please):

* Stream programs from your TiVo box itself to mobile phones, PDAs, and
any Windows, Mac, or Linux PC

* Schedule programs from any Web-connected device

* Sync programs to your TiVo Desktop even while on the road

This latter feature was actually suggested to us by Rob Enderle at IDF
last week - thanks, Rob!

Check it out in all its TiVoey goodness at www.tivoanywhere.com.

You'll need to've set up TiVoToGo for TiVo Anywhere to work.

Ennnnnjoy.

Thanks for nothing. Now, instead of listening to obnoxious loudmouths
yelling on their cell phone in public, we get to hear them yell about
how their batteries are dying, and they are going blind fromn trying to
watch porn on a 2" screen that's all washed out by sunlight.

Very cool, but.... any chance of implementing it using something like
tyshow?
Otherwise us directivo hackers are out of luck since our tivotogo
implementation
cant actually be used to stream since we have no 'code' to use to use.

That capability has been there with Tytools and Tyshow for about 3 years
now.

What you need:

2 minutes to download and install TiVo Anywhere on
your home PC
TiVoToGoT
Windows XP

<snip>

Any chance of it being supported by something other than Windows NT 5.1 (
WIndows XP ) ?

Scotty

Probably not until Tivo releases Tivo Desktop for the other platforms.

All you had to do was check his headers:

X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1506

There are many other Windows OS still out there besides XP.

That would take all the fun out of guessing, wouldn't it?

This can't run in Linux? I thought there were emulators that let you run
stuff designed for Windows...

True, but most of the people who use them don't have that uber-geek attitude
of the typical Linux user. Calling Windows XP "Windows NT 5.1" is tres
uber-geek.

I suppose, I didnt realize we were playing a game.

It might but no one in their right mind would do it.

Not sure how we went down this road... I run Fedora Core as well as
XP Pro and XP64. My phone runs Symbian 7.0. I just liked the idea
that from what I read you could stream video directly off your TiVo
to your phone. Since it leverages TivoToGo, and the hacked DTV
install of it doesn't support streaming, I was just inquiring as to
whether or not there were plans to do this some other way.
Doesn't matter to me one way or another what OS it's for, I'd
prefer Windoze since all my other TiVo tools are on XP, but
I'll install it regardless of the OS (unless it's OSX :p... at least until
that runs on a standard x86 PC architecture that's not made by Apple ).
