I need a laptop, but not those ones that weigh an elephant and can't play crysis on "low". Basically I'm going to uni soon and I need a laptop. I was thinking of building it as I've built numerous PC rigs. But, then a laptop is not the same, parts are harder to find and probs harder to build. I've read the FAQ and I'll try and follow it a much as possible :

1_What is your budget?
Around 500 euros (I'm living with the frenchies)

2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
A 17" screen would be nice.

3_What screen resolution do you want?
Don't care, but not like 800x600

4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Portable

5_How much battery life do you need?
Enough to survive 15h (aprox)

6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Although I do like gaming, I don't want to get distracted. That's a no for gaming.

7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, surfing the web, playing music, watching movies, Etc.)
Video burning, surfing da web, music and movies, txt editing mainly.

8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need?
Nothing massive, 250 maybe

9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post the links to them.
Not really

10_How long do you want to keep your laptop?
Until it dies or I smash it up cause it doesn't obey me.

The main thing is that would it be better to buy or to build considering my answers to the questions.

Thx, Mojito

For 500, - euro ?! I don't think you can find a decent gaming laptop for that small ammount of money. At least not a light one who can play crysis higher as the low settings...

As pc builder myself I guess putting one together yourself will be cheaper in the end. It only requires some more effort and time 😉

Thank you guys.
Tijmen007 I said not for gaming "That's a no for gaming. " :)

Laptopfreak, thanks for that website. Do they only do USA, cuz I live in France "(I'm living with the frenchies)"

They accept international orders and provide international shipping, but you might find their international shipping rate quite expensive. Maybe you want to find an one-time US mail forwarder so that you can send the laptop to the forwarder and let the forwarder send it to you.
