Question To DIY or not to DIY? Is that the question?

What is more important to you in the perfect laptop?

a) slimmer/sleeker/smaller
b) modular/field serviceable

There is no single perfect laptop for all tasks.

Travel/light task/show off systems are thinner and lighter.
Gaming and heavy use systems need to be larger to dissipate heat, have more space for larger components and for upgrades / extra drives.
It also depends on the screen size, you just can't physically stick a larger screen into a compact size laptop.
Until there is some newer technology that comes out to make high end systems not have to worry about heat or hold a lot of needed components, there will be several options for everyone.
