Pick up an Asus FX502VM-AH51 off of Craigslist for 200$ because it wouldn’t charge or turn on. Would they’re be anyway for me to buy a new charging module and put it in myself or would I be safer just taking it to a computer shop for repairs? Would they even be able to fix this?

Solution
No one can say if it is fixable until it is looked at. There could be many causes. Bad motherboard, damaged charging port, bad charger, bad battery (some won't work without a functioning one), etc.

I would suggest you try a tech. See if they can look it over for you and tell you what the problem is so you can then decide if a fix is worth the cost.
