I want to put the hard drive from a Toshiba Satellite L655 into my Inspiron 15.
On the toshiba i go straight into windows and it doesnt ask for any password but when i put the hard disk into the dell it shows me a screen saying:
Harddisk Security
SATA port 0 TOSHIBA MKnumbersSXN Lock
then asks for a password that i never set. I dont care for the data on the hard disk so if a wipe is necessary i dont mind at all and i can access the hard drive fully through the toshiba if needed. I want to know what i should do in order to make the hard disk usable in the dell laptop.

Solution

See if there is a password section in the Dell BIOS that needs disabling.

Is the old Dell HDD available for temp use to do the BIOS check? Sounds like a proprietary Dell BIOS issue.

I already removed all those passwords ... none is asked for on the Toshiba, only on the dell
