I've been trying to upgrade this laptops HDD to a 7200 rpm, WD black drive compared from the basic Toshiba 5400 rpm drive. I have had numerous problems. I have changed the BIOS settings to disable secure boot, I have changed it to CSM Boot, and also tried changing it to compatibility compared to UEFI. I even put the windows installation disk inside the disk drive to try and boot to it but the laptop gives the same error, it will either check media [fail] and then give No Bootable Device - restart. I am out of ideas and I even tried booting into the old HDD to install a new copy of Windows 8.1, but right before it begins to install it gives an error saying something went wrong (the disk works 100% since i've used it on numerous pc's).
*also i tried installing windows 8.1 on the hard drive, plugging it into the laptop to see if it recognizes it and it still doesn't with secure boot disabled and CSM boot.
If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
