Question Toshiba Laptop won't turn on

Toshiba s55 b5280 won't turn on. The 2 little lights in front turn on. I don't hear anything

I have:

• Held the power button down when the power is unplugged and the battery is removed
• Reseated and cleaned the RAM and HD
• Connected to an HDMI external TV

Given it's age, I suspect some part of the motherboard has failed.

What, if anything, happened or changed just prior to this happening?

It worked earlier this year. Then It sat for a few months. Went to use it, and it wouldn't turn on.
