Toshiba Portege Z830 - 4 Finger Death Punch

Gesticulating wildly during a Skype session caused damage to the screen on my Toshiba Portege Z830-A256.

The notebook can be hooked up to an external display, and works fine.

New replacement screen bought:
Toshiba Portege Z830 Serie 13.3" 45 WXGA HD 1366x768 LED matný

The computer starts up as normal, but the screen remains a graduating white/blue colour with fine coloured vertical lines - see pics on Google Drive .

Drivers are up-to-date.

Tried disconnecting and reconnecting the screen with no change.

Is it likely to be a screen or cable problem?

My money is on the cable. That delicate little ribbon has to be in all the way and perfectly straight to work properly.
