Solved! Toshiba satellite L55..the touchpad only works on the lock screen

I wiped down my keypad with a barely even damp piece of gauze, while the pc was running (yeah, I know) now all of a sudden the touchpad/mouse only works on the lock screen. When I enter my password and go to home screen I have no mouse/touchpad. Can’t even see the cursor. I have shut down and restarted several times. What button did I hit?
