I know Toshiba Notebooks were pretty shotty when I last heard of them many years ago. I have never purchased a notebook, but plan on doing so soon. I just wanted to know what the word is on the street with how Toshiba notebooks are these days.

I was looking particularly at one of the following notebooks http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/toshibadirect.to?page=gaming&seg=HHO

I just wanted to know what the quality of Toshiba was like these days. Thanks.

Rule of thumb when buying a notebook. Make sure you buy the extended warenty. Yes it does cost 300-400$ some times, but if you dont know how to work on your computer very well, and replace parts as needed, just about any small thing will cost a lot. Hdd going bad? sure its under warenty, but the labor will be $200. Screen going out? $500. Spilt coke on the keyboard? 150$.

So ya... get it. As for specificly Toshiba, they are not any beter then anyone else. But the laptops arnt bad either. In the end, its the company you purchased the laptop and the extended warenty that you should be asking about.
