transfering harddrive

I have a homemade full size jukebox with a older hp 800 series in it.The video ut went bad so im getting a pavillon tower to take its place.I an not even close to knowing anything about transfering one hard drive to another.I have over 4000 songs,1000 videos and more on the old hard drive and i want to know how to get them to another hard drive.Any suggestions will be appriciated

Just remove the drive from the old computer, get an external enclosure and copy the files over to the new system in the same directory location.
