Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a laptop for college and am stuck on a few choices. Since I have a gaming desktop, I really just want a laptop that can play low to mid graphic games and watch videos on, ect. I also want something that looks nice and doesn't weigh a ton.

Are any of these good? Which one is better?

Here are my picks (no order):
Choice 1
Choice 2
Choice 3

I would also love suggestions.

What I'm Looking For:
Under $800
1 TB Hard Drive
i5 or i7 Processor
8 GB - 16 GB Memory
Ability to play low to mid graphic games on, older games
Webcam
Backlit Keyboard
DVD Drive

Thanks!

Hi,

Really all of those recommendations seem ok, but the one problem I see is the graphics card. I would recommend something with at least a 1GB graphics card for doing any gaming. The Intel integrated graphics ones aren't great. Other than that, choice 2 looks decent.

I'm not super experienced with gaming, but if I had to guess I'd say don't expect to get past 30-45 FPS on a game like Minecraft (just my guess). Are you open to refurbished laptops or are you set on new? I can recommend some good refurbished ones. You can get a lot more bang for your buck if you buy refurbished.

Yes, Intel HD 5500 graphics core can be used to play games as long as they are not graphically demanding.

Somewhat recently a friend of mine was interested in playing Skyrim on his laptop with a core i5-4210u and the Intel HD 4400 graphics core. I have a similar laptop with a core i5-4200, the intel HD 4400 and a dedicated Radeon HD 8850m. I installed Skyrim on my laptop and tweaked it to run pretty well at 1600x900 resolution (no shadows) when using the Intel HD 4400. I then let my friend try it out for himself. He decided to buy Skyrim. Basically performance in a town was about 40 FPS and outside it was 30 FPS most of the time.

It can also play Star Trek Online pretty decently at 1600x900 resolution as well. But I prefer to play it on my desktop with better graphic settings at 1080p. LoL can easily be played at 1080p, but I do not play that game. Below is a link to SurfaceProGamer which basically shows games being played on a Surface Pro 2 with a Core i5-4200u and Intel HD 4400. Whether a specific game seems playable depends on you.
