I am about to move house after many years. I own an SME series III, with the original packing long gone. Do have you any suggestions as to transport? The knife-edges are so critical, I'm very nervous of moving. Do you recommend removal from the turntable, or just taping the old girl down? Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks so much. Regards, Paul.

Solution
Leave it on the turntable. You will want to support both the arm tube and rear counterweight assembly as well as make sure it is held down firmly. If you have damping fluid in use then you want to make sure that it doesn't spill. Also protect the stylus so you don't need to replace it.
If the turntable has a suspension lock it down.
