Tried to use earbud headphones in mic jack on toshiba laptop but it did not register ?

Hi,

Actually it won't register as a microphone in a laptop even though your earphone has a mic in it since that earphone was made to work in mobile devices only. It's pretty much the same with Iphone headphone's as well. Here's a link from Apply support forum about this question.
