in the post, http://www.tomsguide.com/forum/id-2718936/standalone-smartwatch.html, you mention Samsung Gear S as a 'standalone' watch, however, it has to be paired with a galaxy product. What we are seeking as a standalone watch, is one that doesn't EVER have to be paired to a phone for those who don't own a phone nor want to own a phone. Can you please help with suggestions? I've heard Casio Outdoor might be one, Huawei might have a product and perhaps Asus, but it's hard to understand through the fluff if they need to first pair through a phone. THANKS A BUNCH.

I suspect genuine stand-alone is a way off yet.

For starters, rather than have an account so they can charge you for services, they want you to connect to a device where you already have one.
