trying to factory reset toshiba satelite with windows 7

I got this laptop for cheap from a guy who cleans out abandoned houses for a living. nothing ls came with it, but it has a password so im trying to reset it to bypass he password but pressing 0 while turning it on does nothing(maybe because im using external keyboard?) and i had no luck finding anything in bios settings either.
