Trying to fix laptop

Hi there
my Laptop was stolen but I have got it back. From I have got it back I can't get into it. When I start it up it says checking media fail the new screen says no bootable device -- please restart system . It is a toshiba satellite c50d can any one help me please

check the hdd, see if it connected correctly

Yea I have checked all connection and they all look ok to me what else can I do
On my screen it says

if it connect, and when you boot it up it sound like it spinning, could mean it hdd got wipe, need to use your recovery disk to rebuild the OS.
