turn off voice that tells viewer what is happening on the TV

How do you turn off a setting when the television tells viewer what is happening on the screen? for example, "now the person is leaving the room"

Usually it's near the subtitles settings?
I believe it's the blue button on my Virgin media TiVo box' remote ^_^
Settings vary tv to tv, cable box/freeview/apple tv/satellite etc...
Possibly under "accessibility".

Have you tried disabling Closed Captions as well?

Don't remind me of a customer once who wanted a plastic sheet for his TV screen, to prevent people from looking at him and talking to them in the middle of the night....>_>;
