Tv doesn't recognize HDMI

I've had an hdmi cord for awhile and I'm looking to use my flat screen as a monitor. My computer recognizes that there is a samsung tv plugged into my comp, but my samsung tv just gives a not found error thing. I've tried upgrading my video drivers and messing with the settings. Searched everywhere and tried everything and can't find an answer. This is a built PC that I built with a few friends. We could of made an error but unlikely. Thanks!

Not to offend, but are you SURE that the input selected on the TV matches the HDMI port you are plugged into?

ALSO, Make sure its plugged in ALL THE WAY, HDMI can be very finicky
