Tv won't connect with HDMI

I have a pc I built myself its not a laptop but this is the computer tech support place so I figured I would go here. Whenever I try to plug in my HDMI to my TV it will detect it for a second then do nothing it just says no signal. My Graphics card is a gtx 970 and my tv is an RCA. Also I have Windows 10

Hi,

When you connect your TV via HDMI to your PC press then Windows key + P at the same time and select between Extended or Duplicate display then press Enter and that should do the trick.

That didn't work it's as if it detects it but just won't show an image then goes to no signal
