how is twitter still alive?? they just took the "status" feature from facebook and called it a social network. i'll never understand it.

It's great for real-time news, which is my favorite use for it. Also that everyone has a public voice (though if that's a good thing is arguable).

That second part is one of the reasons why users are wary of this change -- popular users and brands may float to the top and others might get lost in the shuffle.
